Pick Up Protocol

Share details

-The checklist is your friend.

There will be a binder at each pick-up location. Inside is the checklist that spells out what you are supposed to take. Always go to the binder first and look and see that everything is correct, then check off the box next to your name to let us know you picked up. If your name is not on the list, do not take a share, because we didn’t pack one for you. You will be short-changing another member if you do so. Instead call the farm immediately 970 568 7654 and we will work things out.

- Bring canvass bags with you each week to transport your items from the site to your home. Do not take the boxes home.

- Your veggies are delivered inside a color coded box: large share (green box); medium share (red box); small share (purple box).

Be sure you are taking the correct size share. We drop off exactly the number of each size share, so if you take the wrong color, you will be short-changing another member. Call us with questions 970 568 7654.

- Your fruit shares will vary throughout the season so you need to check the newsletter or the what's in the box link.

- Clean up after yourself. Emptied boxes should be stacked together according to color, without any vegetable scraps inside. Do not take boxes home.

[[update this strategy, include fruit share info on check list]]

- Your Bread is delivered bagged and in a Blue Box at your site. Artisan shares are one loaf per bag.

- Your meat and poultry one-time orders are frozen and packed in ice in a cooler at your site. The meat will be tagged with your name. The cooler is to be left at the pick up site so please bring your own container to transfer your meat from the site to your home. If there are any discrepancies, please email blake@grantfarms.com (our meat manager) or 970 568 7654 to speak with CSA staff.

 - The Almighty Trade Box

All pick-up locations will have an informal Trade Box. You can probably guess their function.

If you have something in your share that you don’t want and will just end up in the compost, put it in the trade box for someone else to take... and help yourself to anything in the box that looks scrumptious to you!

If there is no obvious trade box at up at your location, feel free to use an empty share box and start one!

Preparing for your weekly share delivery

It is your responsibility to remember to pick up your share on the correct day and during the allocated time. If you forget, we cannot refund, replace or give you credit for your missed share.

- Check your email for reminders and notifications.

We will keep you updated on any urgent changes/delays the day of your delivery, so as a rule, please check your email before heading out.

You will receive an email reminder 2 days prior to your pick up throughout the season, so please be sure to check the appropriate email account.

- Read our weekly newsletter. Visit our archive to catch up on missed newsletters.

Newsletters are emailed to you at the beginning of each week. They will contain any major changes to schedules for pickups (which are rare but worth knowing about). Newsletters also contain veggie info and recipes. Please make this a priority so the season goes smoothly for everyone.

- Arrive within the specified time window

It is your responsibility to remember to pick up your share on the correct day and during the allocated time. If you forget, we cannot refund, replace or give you credit for your missed share.

You will receive an email reminder 2 days prior to your pick up throughout the season, so please be sure to check the appropriate email account.

Your site host is authorized to donate any leftover shares to the area’s food bank and/or needy families.

Please do not disturb the host(s) and/or neighbors by coming late at night or early the next day. Some of our pick-up sites are at private homes, and unless you have express permission from them, we ask you to respect the times they have allowed for members to access their property.

- If you totally spaced out and completely missed your shares, you’re the first person who has done this, so congratulations. Just kidding.

Please view our summer 2012 locations & host info page or email howdy@grantfarms.com to get your host’s contact info. If your host knows sooner than later, they might still have your shares available and will work out a time to meet with you. However, it’s entirely possible that your host has already donated all leftover shares. If that’s the case, we are unable to offer extras next week.

- Planning ahead if you know you’re running late and/or will miss a pick up day

If you are running late, please contact your host so you can make other arrangements (so it’d be wise to have your host’s contact info stored nearby). Please do not pop by the site after hours without making arrangements.

We do not offer “make ups” for shares missed due to vacation or the like. In those situations, please send a friend who has been briefed on our pick up protocol to pick up your shares and use and/or store them for you.

Please remember you are one of many people who use this site to get their veggies. It is a huge bummer when your shares are hard to find and/or not present. Abiding by the above suggestions will make the experience as smooth as possible for everyone - you, your family, the hosts, our delivery drivers, our hard working CSA team, our packers, and our farmers!

Take heed of the guidelines below:

- Only take what you’re due.

Use your email confirmations, newsletter, our website, and the checklist to confirm what you’re due... and if you’re still not 100%, we’re a couple rings away - 970 568 7654. Please call when in doubt!

Your veggies are delivered inside a color coded box: large share (green box); medium share (red box); small share (purple box). Be sure you are taking the correct size share. We drop off exactly the number of each size share, so if you take the wrong color, you will be short-changing another member.

Always feel free to call us with questions 970 568 7654.

-If you send someone in your place to pick up your shares (spouses, nannies, neighbors, friends, and people who you split your share with), please be 100% sure that they’re aware of what to take in order to prevent shorting other members.

- Bring canvass bags with you each week to transport your items from the site to your home. Do not take the boxes home.

-Clean up after yourself. Emptied boxes should be stacked together according to color, without any vegetable scraps inside. Do not take boxes home.

-Treat your pick-up site/neighborhood the way you would wish someone else to treat your own personal property - with respect.

- Please keep in mind that your actions with neighborhood residents and/or customers is the reflection of our CSA. Please do not speed through the suburbs or mistreat a customer at a place of business. Keep it positive!

- If there are any discrepancies with your delivery, please call or email someone at the farm immediately and we will work with our excellent crew to get you extras of any missing items! Always default to the CSA Team to deal with unpleasant issues. Your host and/or staff at the host business/organization does not have access or authority to make promises on the farm’s behalf. Always call or email us 970 568 7654 - howdy@grantfarms.com
